Ideas for Organizations

Follow us on Twitter and Facebook

Monday, November 16th, 2009

We have a lot going on — not just events.  Unless you’re going to visit us everyday (which would be awesome, but pretty unrealistic for us to expect), the best way to know what’s new on My Jewish Portal is to follow us on the sites you do visit every day.

Here’s our Twitter Feed: www.twitter.com/myjewishevents

Here’s our facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Los-Angeles-CA/The-New-MyJewishPortalcom/194251157805?ref=ts

To give you an idea of what we post, we’ll send the latest “Did you know…” fun fact, the website of the week, the 10-line torah portion, the Judaism 101 lesson and reminders about some other great features of the site.

Oh, and be a mensch… Tell your friends.

We’re adding new features all the time!  Many of which as so great, we describe them with multiple exclamation marks!!!

We’ve teamed up with Facebook to make it even easier for you to know what’s going on at MyJewishPortal.com.  Whenever we post a new “did you know…”, reveal next week’s 10-line Torah Portion summary, or unveil a new feature, our fans on Facebook are the first to find out.

So, if you aren’t already, click here to become a fan of The New MyJewishPortal.com today.

Don’t post events through myjewishportal.com. HUH???

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

We’re serious.  If you never come to our website, that’s totally cool with us.  Why?  Because we’ve made it easier to post your myjewishportal events on your site than on ours.

Still confused?  You should be.  We haven’t fully explained yet.

As part of the new MyJewishPortal.com launch, we created a series of web tools for your non-profit website.  They’re called Tools4Shuls (though, they’re not just for synagogues).  Included in this suite of applications is a Jewish calendar, complete with Hebrew dates, holidays, local candle lighting times, torah portion information, the ability to take RSVPs and credit card payments directly from your website, and best of all (or maybe not quite best of all, but right up there), when you post an event to your organization’s calendar, it is automatically posted to the community calendar on MyJewishPortal.com!   No Fooling!  You don’t need to go around posting your event to multiple sites anymore.  Just post it once, and it’s out there! (That explains why some synagogues have so many event’s on MJP, and you barely have time to post a few per month)

Visit www.Tools4Shuls.com to see more info, a demo, and prices.  We know your budget’s tight, so you pay low monthly fees rather than huge upfront fees, and it fits into your existing site, so no redesign costs.

A new look for MJP

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

You’ve probably noticed by now… We’ve taken down the tarps to reveal that we aren’t the same old My Jewish Portal.

But the improvements aren’t skin deep.  My Jewish Portal is on it’s way to being the only website you’ll need to visit to find out everything that’s going on at your synagogue, in your community and around the world!

In the “Our World” section you’ll see some new calendars, including Shabbat and Havdallah candle lighting times for your city and Jewish Holidays for every year from now until the time that something really cool replaces the internet completely.  You’ll also find continuously updated Jewish News, a weekly 10-line summary of the current Torah Portion, and little bits of Jewish trivia.  Sorry, but you no longer have an excuse for not knowing relevant Jewish “stuff”.

In the “My Community” section, take a look at our new and improved Community Calendar.  It sorts and filters in more ways than anyone really needs, but will no-doubt keep you entertained for hours.  We’ve always had the Singles and Tikkun Olam calendars, but take a quick look at the Top Events scrolling windows on your homepage, and the dropdowns on top of the community calendar.  We’ve added a voting system so that you can show support for the events you like, and recommend to others.  With that voting capability, we can help you find the most popular and exciting Jewish things going on in your neck of the woods.

Yes, my friends, we are well on our way to creating the most dynamic and innovative Jewish community calendar on the web, and we’re so happy you will be joining us on our journey.

We invite your comments, criticism and ideas for what would make MyJewishPortal.com even better!  use the Contact Us page to let us know you care.

Until next time… Our regards to the mishpacha.
